Thousand Feet Of Wisconsin River Granted Conservation Easement

Northwoods Land Trust

A thousand foot section of the Wisconsin River north of Rhinelander is going to be preserved after an agreement signed at the Sustainability Fair.

Ann Eshelman and husband Scott have agreed to a conservation easement through the Northwoods Land Trust...

"......my family for the last 70 years has owned a piece of property along the Wisconsin River that includes 250 underwater acres and about 80 acres above water. It's a pristine part of the Wisconsin River backwaters. It was always my family's desire to have it protected and undeveloped. My parents wanted to keep it in pristine shape. To that end my husband Scott and I have been working with the Northwoods Land Trust, eight years I believe it is, to clear up issues so we could give a conservation easement to the Northwoods Land Trust...."

The property is in the McNaughton area and will retain the conservation easement in perpetuity, regardless of ownership. The Northwoods Land Trust is based in Eagle River.

The Northwoods Land Trust promotes conservation by private landowners for natural shorelands, woodlands, wetlands and other natural resources, as public benefits for present and future generations in Vilas, Oneida, Forest, Florence, Iron and Price Counties and the surrounding region.
