Three Lakes Considering Commission To Upgrade Airport

commons.wikimedia.org

Three Lakes is considering organizing an airport commission.

At a recent meeting, the town board heard a report about a recent analysis after the Wisconsin Bureau of Aeronautics hired a firm to look at the airport property.

Town Chair Stella Westfall says the goal of a commission is to help develop the community...

"....at this point we're putting together an airport commission and organizing the airport as having viable economic impact to this community....'

Westfall says the commission is key as that will be the way that more grant funding can be found to improve the facility and the commission can help develop a plan.

"...it gives us an opportunity to receive grant money from the state at an 80/20 match...for future improvements whether it's equipment, or updating the building or parking lots, things like that...."

More background work needs to be done by the town concerning an ordinance before the commission can be put in place.
