Three vehicles were involved in an accident north of Antigo that injured four people and closed Highway 45 for over five hours.

The Langlade County Sheriff’s office received several 911 calls reporting the accident at around 2:45 Wednesday afternoon.

It happened between County Highways B and C, about seven miles north of Antigo.

According to the initial investigation, 49-year-old Ronald Musselman of Eagle River was driving southbound on Highway 45, when the vehicle crossed the centerline and hit a northbound vehicle driven by 82-year-old Raymond Krueger of Elcho, and carrying passenger 85-year-old Ruth Krueger.

That vehicle then hit a southbound vehicle driven by 20-year-old Brittany Krueger of Antigo.

85-year-old Ruth Krueger was airlifted to Aspirus Hospital in Wausau, while the others were transported to Langlade Hospital in Antigo and later released.

A Wisconsin State Patrol accident reconstruction unit was called to the scene and traffic was detoured for five and a half hours.

The accident remains under investigation.
