Tia Nelson Hopes Public Votes No On Treasurer Question

Outrider Foundation

Tia Nelson was head of the Board of Commissioners of Public Lands for 11 years as Executive Director of Board of Commissioners of Public Lands, the agency that oversees the state's public lands. She has a unique perspective on a ballot question facing voters tomorrow, whether Wisconsin should become the first state in the union to abolish the position of state Treasurer.

Proponents say it's a cost-cutting move and many of the duties are performed elsewhere. But opponents of abolishing the position say it isn't that simple and could lead to long-term unwelcome consequences.

The daughter of Earth Day founder Gaylord Nelson, she spoke with WXPR's Ken Krall about her opposition to the change....

Nelson Directs the educational initiative on climate change at the Outrider Foundation.
