Two Fatal Accidents Claim Lives in Vilas County

A 34-year-old Pewaukee man was killed in a snowmobile accident Saturday in Plum Lake Township --off of Birch Spring Road near Sayner.

Vilas County investigators say Jason Ringle fell off a snowmobile and was struck by another snowmobile in his group.

It was the first snowmobile-related death recorded in Wisconsin this year.

The accident remains under investigation by Vilas County authorities and the DNR.

Wisconsin recorded three snowmobile-related deaths in December.

In a separate incident, a one-vehicle accident killed the driver Sunday afternoon around 4:30 pm.

A vehicle traveling east of Hwy 70 drove through the intersection with Hwy 155 in St. Germain, left the road, and hit a tree.

The sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation and the name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
