Update 6-12: Man Dies Saturday In Tomahawk Boat Mishap

6-12-2017 A 23 year old Irma man was identified as the person who died Saturday in a boating mishap Saturday afternoon in the City of Tomahawk. Justin J.J. Kimmons got into the water to prevent the boat he was in from striking a dock. The Lincoln County Sheriff's Department reports a boat driven by a 22 year old Tomahawk man was traveling west on the Wisconsin River when the engine failed as the boat passed underneath the North Fourth Street Bridge. As the boat drifted, the occupants feared the boat would eventually hit the shore. Kimmons got into the water to prevent the boat from hitting a dock. The engine restarted as Kimmons was at the backside of the boat and was hit by the propeller, causing a fatal injury. He was pronounced dead at the scene. One person has died in a boating mishap in the City of Tomahawk.

Lincoln County Sheriff's officials say they were called Saturday afternoon to the North Fourth Street Bridge when a passenger in a boat went into the water to assist when the boat became disabled.

The boat then struck the man. The investigation is continuing on the death.

Several emergency response teams were on the scene. Sheriff's officials says more information is likely to be released over the weekend.
