VA To Host Town Halls On Health Care Concerns

The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain is hosting a series of town halls next month to hear about veterans health concerns.

Ken Krall spoke with Iron Mountain VA spokesperson Brad Nelson....

"....(Krall) ..what would you like to see coming out of these town halls? What type of input?...(Nelson) The director from our Medical Center as well as the applicable Veterans Service Officers from the counties in attendance. We're going to be providing on VA benefits and services. We're also going to be discussing the new Veterans Choice Program which is a concern to some and some recent changes to it. We will be listening to veterans comments and concerns that's on anything regarding veterans health concerns and how we can improve the care to them...."

VA to Host Veteran Town Halls IRON MOUNTAIN –

The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center will be hosting a Veteran Town Halls in northern Wisconsin November 8-9, 2016 and in the Upper Peninsula.

The town halls will be held on Tuesday, November 8, at 1 p.m. at VFW Post 2687 in Eagle River and at 5 p.m. at the VFW Hall in Antigo.

On Wednesday, November 9, town halls will be held at 10 a.m. at VFW Post 2687 in Tomahawk and at 5 p.m. at the Rhinelander Veterans Center in Rhinelander.

The town halls are open to all Veterans, their families and friends, and the public. Leaders from the VA medical center and the applicable County Veteran Service Officers from Vilas, Langlade, Lincoln and Oneida Counties will be on hand to provide a presentation on VA benefits and services, discuss the new Veterans Choice Program and recent changes, and listen to Veterans’ comments and concerns. There will also be a presentation of Vietnam War 50th Commemoration Pins to Vietnam Era Veterans who served from November 1, 1955 to May 15, 1975. 

The VA will also be conducting Veteran Town Halls in Michigan on Thursday, November 10, at the Ironwood American Legion Post (10 a.m. November 10) and Lac Vieux Desert Health Center in Watersmeet (2 p.m. November 10).

In the last four years the VA medical center has conducted twenty-seven Veteran Town Halls throughout the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin.
