Van Stippen Chooses To Challenge Tom Tiffany

Van Stippen campaign

A Democrat who previously announced he was running for the 35th Assembly has suspended his campaign for that seat, and now says he will run in for the 12th State Senate seat currently held by Republican Tom Tiffany.

Bryan Van Stippen of Deerbrook, in Langlade county, announced the change. He says after talking with those close to him and others, he wants the Senate seat instead.

Van Stippen says the issues in both the 35th Assembly seat and the Senate seat are the same, citing jobs, local control and what he sees as an attack on our educational systems.

He says majority Republicans have been busy handing money to companies who are exporting jobs and says a focus must be on helping small business.

Former Oconto Falls school administrator Dave Polashek has also announced as a Democratic challenger for the seat.
