Vilas Co. Board Agrees to Join Tri-County-Tribal Anti-Drug Effort

Wikimedia Commons

The Vilas County board this week  voted to participate in a Tri-County/Tribal controlled substance response committee with representatives of the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and Oneida and Iron counties.

Several supervisors had questions  including “what and how would we know if we made a difference”?Tribal council representative George Thompson saying  “this creates a sharing of information with the tribe and the three counties.”

Supervisor Al Bauman, whose represents part of the Lac du Flambeau reservation, hoped this committee would become a reality because illegal drugs “are a serious, serious problem in our communities.”

Each county would have two representatives, one of which would have to be a county board member. A meeting schedule would be developed and be coordinated through UW-Extension.
