Vilas Vision Seeking New Leadership Candidates

commons.wikimedia.org

A program to develop the next generation of leaders in Vilas county is looking for candidates.
Since it's inception in 2003, Vilas Vision has graduated more than 100 candidates. It is a cooperative arrangement between Vilas County UW-Extension and the Lac du Flambeau band of Lake Superior Chippewa.

UW-Extension agent Chris Stark says the program hopes to help people build a better future for themselves and the community...

"....the value of this is leadership skills I hope people obtain becoming better human beings, better employees, better at whatever they choose to do. This is about developing your personal style as a leader...."

The program makes 7 stops in different Vilas county communities to learn about the offerings in each area, along with following specific topics. As an example, Stark says one stop will be in Manitowish Waters to see the new business incubator there.

Stark says they often have gotten public sector workers and he's hoping Vilas county business people join in the effort...

".....I think it's most beneficial to people who are looking to improve themselves in general and looking to get to know the county better if you're going to be a county supervisor or run for office and want to know Vilas county very well. This may be a good program for you...."

Non-profit organizations also are invited. For more information, contact Stark at Vilas County UW-Extension, go to their website, or to the Lac du Flambeau tribe website at ldf tribe. com
