Volunteer Opportunities at the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest

commons.wikimedia.org

There are a lot of volunteer opportunities waiting for Northwoods residents at the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest this summer. Public Service officer Hilary Markin says anyone can help out.

“Pretty much anyone can do it. You know.. Some places we have teachers who are on their summer break who are volunteers that come back year after year, we have retired folks, and we have students as well or college students looking to build up their resumes. There’s lots of different opportunities... there’s almost something for everyone out there.”

Markin says they match volunteer’s talents and skills to jobs that provide a safe and rewarding volunteer experience while meeting the forest’s mission.

She says the Forest Service needs volunteer trail groomers and campground hosts.

Markin says students can earn college credit for volunteering.

Anyone interested can find more information on the
