Volunteers Needed For Newbold Disc Golf Work

commons.wikimedia.org

Work is progressing on a new disc golf course planned off Ole Lake road in the town of Newbold and folks helping to construct the course need volunteers Saturday.

Last year, the town just north of Rhinelander announced they were building course with completion expected by fall. The logging has been done, but town resident Pete Cody says a volunteer work crew is needed. He says they've been getting rid of left over brush....

"....twenty would be great, 30 would be a lot better. The work we'll ask them to do is help pile brush and do some raking. We'll have some small trees that we have to put in the ground so there will be plenty of work to do...."

Cody says they need help to have the course ready to go this fall.....

"....it's speculation at this time. It just depends on how well the work goes and how quickly get the stumps out of the ground there and get the T-pads in and the baskets out. It will require a lot of work. We're not of the opinion that it will go real fast. We want to make sure everything is done right...."

If you have an extra leaf rake, it would be appreciated. Ole Lake Road is about five miles north of Rhinelander, off Highway 47. The crew will assemble at 10 a.m. Cody says they have a Facebook site, Friends of the Newbold Outdoor Recreation Area or you can call Cody for more information at 715-369-0309.
