Governor Walker campaigned in Rhinelander Friday, along with NJ Governor Chris Christie.

Governor Scott Walker spoke Friday evening outside the Rhinelander headquarters of logging equipment maker Ponsee.

Walker emphasized his track record on jobs and the economy, and blasted what he called negative attack ads coming from his opponent.

“And I don’t know if you’ve been watching tv lately, but you know what our ads do? They have me, talking right like I’m talking to each of you right now. Looking you right in the face, like I’m sitting right in your living room across the coffee table. And I’m telling you what I’m for – I’m for a better Wisconsin.”

Former Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour joined Walker on the campaign trail, as did current New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who’s also the head of the Republican Governor’s Association.  Christie said along with Florida and Michigan, the race for Wisconsin’s governor is one of the most important.

“And we’re gonna make sure that he’s not outspent. That’s what the RGA has done here, is to make sure that all the allies of Scott Walker do what needs to be done to get his message out. And when he gets his message out, he wins.”

The latest Marquette University poll of likely voters gave Walker a 7 point lead over Democratic challenger Mary Burke in the week prior to the election, though earlier polls put them dead even.
