Website Helps Voters Find Out Information On Races

League of Women Voters

The League of Women Voters of the Northwoods is inviting the public to look at what is termed a "one stop shop" for the April 7 election. A more complete "Voters Guide" is expected to be available by mid-March.

Called "Vote411.org", the site will have a variety of information about the candidates for town and school board races in the Northwoods..says the League's local president Yolan Mistele...

?

".....VOTE411.org is a site set up the the national League of Women Voters in 2006 to provide non-partisan information to the public with both general and state-specific information about elections. For our area it will only include the local candidates and school board candidates. The state candidates, the Supreme Court Justice and other judges will not be on 411 this year...."

Mistele says you can put in address information into the site and it will bring up information about local candidates and races where you live. Mistele says the state races, mainly state Supreme Court and judge's races, will not appear, but local government and school board races will be available. Basic biographical information appears for each participating candidate. The candidates also answer a series of questions including why they are running and what they would like to accomplish.
