Wolf Trial Delayed As Defense Gathering Information

Oneida County Sheriff's Department

A delay is likely in the trial of a Rhinelander man charged with allegedly killing a man in 2003.

Judge Michael Bloom agreed to a delay so a large amount of files could be read by the defense.

41 year old Shannon Wolf is charged with first degree homicide in the 2003 death of a Rhinelander man underneath the Davenport Street bridge. The case was reopended last year by Rhinelander Police after Wolf's ex-wife Latoya agreed to testify against him. Wolf was already in prison after sentencing for attacking his ex-wife in 2012.

Public Defender Maggie Hogan also asked for records from  mental competency hearings concerning an inmate who allegedly heard evidence relavent to the case. Judge Bloom denied Hogan those records, but granted a second records request concerning a child custody case involving Shannon and Latoya....

"...the primary focus of the defense is...attacking the primary witness, Latoya Wolf's credibility..."

Both sides will meet again Friday to set a new trial date, expected to last seven days. In July, Latoya Wolf pled to a lesser charge in exchange for testifiying against her ex-husband.
