en.wikipedia.org

An Oneida and Vilas County chronic disease prevention and management coalition called "Northwoods LEAN"  is hosting a free worksite wellness summit on Tuesday, April 21  at Ministry Saint Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander.

Kyla Waksmonski of the Oneida County Health Department says they're hoping business owners come to the summit. She says having a wellness program on the job saves money long term..

"....for every dollar spent on workplace employers can save up to $6.00.  Workplace Wellness programs can reduce sick leave, medical costs and Workers Compensation claims by up to 25 percent......it's great for employee retention and recruitment and employers see increased productivity and decreased absenteeism. And then there's this concept of being 'present' in the workplace...you're there, but not really there..."

Waksmonski says the ideas presented will show employers low cost ways of bringing or maintaining workplace wellness programs. She says the techniques work for whatever sized business is interested. She says it has also proven to be effective for employee retention and recruitment. More information is available through either the Oneida or Vilas county public health departments..
