Write-In Candidate Files For OC Clerk Post

commons.wikimedia.org

The person who lost in the primary election last month for Oneida County Clerk has announced a write-in campaign for the November general election.

During the August 9 primary, Tracy Hartman defeated Kerri Ison by 301votes. Both candidates ran as Republicans.

Last week, Ison became a registered write-in candidate for the job...

"....my name will not be on the ballot. It will have to be written in. When you look at the ballot you'll see the county clerk race you'll see Tracy Hartman's name with Republican behind her(name) and a spot on the bottom of that. That will say write-in and what you'll have to do is actually write my name in on that line..."

Ison says after the election she heard from many people about the election...

"....I want to run again because there were many voters who weren't able to vote for me in the partisan primary due to the crossover restrictions. There were many people who wanted to vote for me but couldn't because they wanted to vote Democrat...."

Ison is a Deputy Clerk and election specialist in the Oneida County Clerk's office. Later this year, current Clerk Mary Bartelt will be retiring.

Tracy Hartman is the clerk in the town of Crescent and is the spouse of Oneida County Sheriff Grady Hartman.
