Health officials in Langlade County are holding an AIDS vigil this Sunday.

World AIDS Day is coming up in a few weeks.

WXPR’s Natalie Jablonski spoke with Pastor Nancy Richmond, who will be leading this weekend’s vigil, about why it’s being held.

It’s at 4 o’clock Sunday in the chapel at Langlade Hospital in Antigo.

Organizers say it’s the only event of its kind in the region.

Body Found Near Antigo

Aug 23, 2013

The person was found on a trail north of Highway 64 near a bicycle. So far, Langlade County authorities haven’t released any information other than to confirm a body was found on private property near Western Road and Hazel Road just west of Antigo, so we don’t know if the cause of death was related to the bicycle or something completely different. Dispatchers say Sheriff William Greening plans to release more information Friday morning.

This Father’s Day weekend, we take a look at a story of model parenting from an unlikely place: the world of birds.  We meet a bald eagle who’s done a remarkable job as a foster father to over a hundred and fifty orphaned chicks.

They call him Amp.

“People are always surprised when I say we have a foster dad eagle.  And they’re like, “well where’s the mom?” Well, it would be great if we had a mom…but we don’t have a non-releasable mom .  And he does such a great job.”
