Cranberryfest Mostly Undaunted By Rain

Cranberryfest typically brings 40,000 visitors to Eagle River

The weather didn't cooperate as desired, but an organizer for Cranberryfest in Eagle River said the event went well. 

The event is held the first weekend in October at the Vilas County Fairgrounds.  The Chamber of Commerce's Kim Emerson talked to WXPR's Ken Krall about the two-day event.

Emerson says volunteers were again critical to the success of Cranberryfest and she thanked them all.

Gearing up for Cranberry Onslaught

The festival expects to sell some 10,000 pounds of fresh cranberries.

In spite of a rainy forecast, Eagle River is bracing for some 40,000 visitors to Cranberry Fest. 

Organizer Kim Emerson is busy setting up for the weekend festival. 

“Some of the preparations we’re working on is getting all the big tents set up, we’ve got to get all the crafter booths set up so all the vendors know where their spot is, get the fresh cranberries and craisins set up.”

Volunteers Needed For CranberryFest

Volunteers are the lifeblood of many Northwoods events and Eagle River's main fall event needs some people to step forward.

The 34th Annual CranberryFest is set for the weekend of October 5 and 6 at the Vilas County Fairgrounds in Eagle River.

Chamber of Commerce Events Coordinator Kim Emerson says preparations are moving forward, but they need a few more hands...
