Direct from Memphis, Eric Scrappie Hughes or the "Boss of Beale Street" as he's known, brought his deep river blues to the Northwoods August 24th. Floating down the Wisconsin River took on a real Delta feel with Scrappie's authentic delivery of original compositions and blues classics.
From "The Ballad of Weevil Point Willie" to "Tested Positive for the Blues," Scrappie's musical storytelling and artistry are a pleasure to share with WXPR listeners on Blues Friday and live at the WXPR Blues Cruise.
For anyone loving the blues, the Boulder Junction Blues Breakdown became the place to be Saturday July 13th in the Northwoods. Great talent, variety, organization, and community participation made for a delightful day.
WXPR is pleased to have been one of the many sponsors supporting live blues and community powered events. Our congratulations to the organizers of this inaugural Boulder Junction blues celebration with hopes for many more to come.
