Rhinelander Hodag Celebrates Claws

The Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce celebrated the Hodag’s newly refurbished claws yesterday morning. Local sculptor, Chuck Williams reattached the laws this June after they were stolen last winter. Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Bill Clow says Chuck Williams offered his skills to give the Hodag his claws back.

The Northwoods’ most famous mythical creature has his eyes set on the White House. The Rhinelander Hodag announced his campaign for presidency this morning at the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce. Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Bill Clow spoke on his behalf.



Rhinelander's mythical mascot is the centerpiece of a new digital mobile game, the "Hungry Hodag" which has become free to download for Apple and Android users.

Bill Clow from the Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce says the Rhinelander Tourism Marketing Committee felt this type of approach would attract people who want to play the game and find out more about Rhinelander...


  A call for artists has come from Downtown Rhinelander, Incorporated. To  raise money for downtown projects each fall, D.R.I. auctions off decorated mini-Hodags which are painted in the spring and displayed at various locations through the summer. D.R.I. Director Maggie Steffen says they need artists in the region to come forward and transform the mini-Hodags into works of art...  


The principal fundraiser to aid downtown Rhinelander is being held Saturday night and the downtown will also be aglow.

The fundraiser is an adult Halloween Costume party and auction, earning the moniker this year the "Haunted Hodag Howl".

Downtown Rhinelander, Inc.'s Maggie Steffen says the event auctions off Hodag replicas that are seen around the community. But this year, the mythical beast is smaller and there's more of them...



Area residents are invited Saturday morning to Pioneer Park in Rhinelander as a Canadian documentary crew comes to do a program on the Hodag.
