Hodag Park


A Rhinelander committee has given initial blessings to the idea of a new band shell and an upgrade at Hodag Park, next to Boom Lake.

City Council member Sherrie Belliveau chairs the Parks committee. She says after an comprehensive review of city parks last year by a task force, the recommendation was to find more uses for the parks. She says Hodag Park is under utilized. She says not all that long ago, it was a busy place...

A group called Lights of the Northwoods is staging the inaugural holiday lighting event with the help of several non-profit community groups.

Let's Go Fishing Seeks Boom Lake Mooring Space

The Northwoods chapter of Let’s Go Fishing is running into some obstacles leading up to its second season. 

The group formed last year to take seniors, veterans, and disabled people on boat rides, free of charge. The trips leave from Hodag Park in Rhinelander, as it’s close to many care facilities.   

But chapter Vice President Mark Schroeder says the program faces the problem of where to store the 33-foot pontoon boat between rides. 

Lets Go Fishing

The Northwoods Chapter of Lets Go Fishing leaves the dock Wednesday and Thursday from Hodag Park in Rhinelander.

The program was developed for seniors and others who enjoy fishing but can't get out on the water says chapter president Sue Koehne....

"....this organization is planning on taking any groups who wish to, especially if they have a senior or a child with special needs. It's a very wide range of process that we can to with the (Lets Go Fishing) boat and we have a large number of volunteers who can help us accomplish what we need..."
