A Northwoods Republican has found support for an effort to make sure cuts in the state transportation budget aren't made on the backs of rural Wisconsin residents.

Mary Czaja of Irma wrote Governor Walker saying a plan to keep projects in southeastern Wisconsin from budget cuts won't fly in the Assembly.

State Representative Mary Czaja of Irma thinks a model developed by Three Lakes could help northern school districts facing critical budget problems.

Three Lakes schools have opened a Fab Lab which is a public-private partnership as Czaja explains. It's a type of 3-D computer-based manufacturing. Czaja says the goal is to have a Fab Lab in every K-12 school in the 12th Senate District....

Mary Czaja is a state legislator from Irma. She's  a businesswoman with an insurance background. She's also facing cancer again after having the disease 10 years ago. 

As she told  WXPR  her story from a medical facility in Madison, she wanted to get the message out that prevention is something everyone should consider.

The Assembly Speaker's Task Force on Rural Schools is holding its fourth public hearing Wednesday afternoon(Jan. 8) at the Antigo high school.
