After several years of sitting idle and just a few offers, the Oneida county board accepted a bid Tuesday authorizing the sale of the former WPS building near the courthouse. The original asking price was more than $500,000 in 2008. The county sold the building to Midwest Lease, LLC for $185,000. The vote was 15-3 to sell the building. The Oneida County Board Tuesday agreed to negotiate a lease with Midwest Lease, LLC for the sale of the former WPS building near the courthouse.
The board met in closed session then announced they had authorized a number of county officials to negotiate a counter offer of $225,000 cash, with the building in "As is" condition and to close by March 31.
Too many questions remain, so the Oneida county board has moved to have a committee study more options for the former WPS building on Davenport Street. At issue is just what should be done with space needs for the UW-Extension, and Land and Water Conservation Departments now housed at the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport.
