Oneida county and the city of Rhinelander have been asked to lend $15 million dollars so Rhinelander Coated Products can set up shop in the former Printpak building on Kemp Street. Oneida County Economic Development Corporation Director Roger Luce says negotiations are underway to enter into a lease/purchase contract with Rhinelander Coated Products .....

"....have the economic development corporation purchase the former Printpak facility on Kemp St., then renovate that building, then the development corporation would purchase that equipment utilized in the Rhinelander coated manufacturing process...."

Northeast Wisconsin Development Corporation, a sister corporation of the Oneida County Economic Development Corporation, is doing the negotiating. Luce also heads that organization. The source of the borrowing by Oneida County and City of Rhinelander would be the State of Wisconsin Board of Commissioners of Public Lands State Trust Fund, designed to spur economic development. Similiar arrangements have been made for other business expansions in the Rhinelander area.

Luce says no final agreement has been arranged by Oneida county, Rhinelander and the economic development groups but have a time limit to get the arrangement made. Rhinelander Coated Products has identified a growth opportunity, but has a time limit to get the process going. Luce says if successful, several new jobs would be created at the former Printpak facility.
