Annual WPS Reports Shows $2 Million To Local Commmunities

Wisconsin Public Service

An annual report from Wisconsin Public Service notes the utility, its foundation and employees, awarded more than $2 million dollars in dollars and in-kind giving in 2015 within the WPS service area.

Community Relations Manager Karmen Lemke says the money went to a variety of categories...

"....those dollars include our Foundation giving, which is our charitable giving entity, it also includes employee and retiree donations through our United Way campaign, and our matching gifts program, and it includes a value on our volunteer hours...."

The Wisconsin Public Service Foundation made charitable contributions of nearly $1.4 million, while WPS employees made donations of their personal time, nearly 18,000 hours, and dollars equivalent to more than $700,000. Lemke says they also contributed to the environment....

"....environmental giving includes gifts to Trees For Tomorrow(in Eagle River), Habitat For Humanity, and other environmentally-friendly organizations...."

Lemke says you can find out more about the program on the WPS website. Lemke says the Foundation is funded by company shareholders, not by utility customers.
