Area Kids Explore Careers on Wheels

Rhinelander students Thursday got an up close look at a possible career. Over 20 local businesses and organizations participated in the sixth annual “Careers on Wheels” event held at Central Elementary. Logging trucks and equipment, street sweepers, utility vehicles and other machines were set up for students to tour and ask questions. Community Education Coordinator Mike Cheslock says the day is dedicated to students exploring their future career options…

“…the people representing the businesses and organizations talk to the students a bit about their educational training and background and what goes into it. Hopefully students get the message that they should stay in school and study hard because all careers require some kind of education and training..”

10 year old Abigail says she learned a lot about what it takes to be a paramedic…

“…I learned that there’s this one machine that can check your blood pressure and take a picture of your heart…”

Abigail was one of dozens of area fourth and fifth grade students exploring the event.

Careers on Wheels is put on by Rhinelander Partners in Education.
