Bottling Plant In Minocqua Hits Snag

en.wikipedia.org

A public hearing is set for Thursday evening(9/17) in Minocqua on a proposal to build a water bottling plant. That hearing will take place even though a Milwaukee-Journal Sentinel story said the main water source for he plant might violate an agreement between the U.S. and Canada.

Trig Solberg and Robert Rynders want to open  a water bottling plant. Solberg earlier said he planned to ship water from Carlin Lake in Vilas county to Minocqua to have it bottled. The newspaper reported  the lake lies within the Great Lakes watershed, and is protected by the Great Lakes Compact. Minocqua lies in the Mississippi watershed and the compact doesn't allow water to be taken out of the Great Lakes watershed.

Oneida County Planning and Development Director Karl Jenrich says the public hearing in Minocqua will go on as planned...

"....we are scheduled for a public hearing in the town of Minocqua Community Center at 6:30 p.m. It's my understanding the applicants may not be able to get the water from the source they were looking for...."

Also on the agenda is an application by Marshfield Clinic to construct an addition to the existing clinic for a Healing and Rehabilitation Center.
