Challenger Rosa Wins Crandon Mayoral Recall

Crandon will have a new mayor.  Incumbent major Rob Jaeger lost a recall election by a wide margin yesterday to challenger Dennis Rosa, 184 votes to 378.

The polls closed at 8 pm last night.

Rosa will assume the role of mayor as soon as he takes the oath of office.

Over 200 citizens signed a petition asking for the recall of the incumbent Jaeger, citing political differences. But there was some question as to whether a recall election would actually happen, when the Crandon city council at first failed to order one, despite state law mandating it to do so.  The city council then held a second vote and called for the recall election.

Jaeger was serving the first four-year mayoral term in Crandon, which previously relied on two-year terms.
