Community Health Symposium Set For Friday At Nicolet College

en.wikipedia.org

Community health professionals and the public are gathering Friday morning at Nicolet College in Rhinelander for the second-annual Community Health Symposium, presented by the Collage and the Northwoods Tobacco-Free Coalition.

Community Health Specialist Corie Zelazoski says the symposium offers the public a chance to learn from other professionals..

"....we also wanted to collaborate with other sectors of the community such as mental health, AODA, health and sexual assault to bring some presentations to our community...."

Zelazoski says a keynote speaker from the Department of Justice will be on hand to talk about a growing drug problem in Wisconsin called "A Dose of Reality"....

"...we're really excited to bring that up here to the Northwoods because its been heavily pushed in the(southern part of the state). It hasn't been seen as much up here. It's working to prevent prescription painkiller abuse in Wisconsin. ..."

She says political candidates also have been asked to attend. Zelazoski says there are a few seats still available.

More information is available by contacting the Oneida County Public Health Department.
