DNR Wants Input On Its Road System

en.wikipedia.org

The DNR owns and maintains thousands of miles of roads and is required to inventory and map all roads.

The DNR is seeking feedback regarding general considerations used to evaluate motorized road access.

DNR land representative Aaron Buchholz says when the process is done, the public will have a clearer idea about these roads...

".....evaluating each of those roads based on economic, ecological and social considerations. We fleshed those topics out a little bit more into a document used by our property managers and planners to make decisions on which roads will be open or closed for public use..."

Buchholtz says this does not affect the state trails system.

Buchholtz says the goal is a Public Access Lands atlas. More information is available on  the DNR website using the words "proposed DNR program guidance".
