openclipart.org

An Oneida county intersection that has produced a higher than average number of fatalities and injuries is getting studied by the Department of Transportation.

The most recent fatality happened in April when a 38 year old Eagle River man died at the intersection of state Highway 17 andcounty road "A" in the town of Sugar Camp.

DOT traffic engineer Jack Keiffer  says the state is reviewing the intersection and completing a study...

"...we're currently reviewing the intersection and completing a study. The intersection was brought to our attention following a recent fatal crash on April 14, 2015 requesting we review the safety of the intersection and we are doing that...."

Keiffer thinks all the data and field reports will be completed in early July. He says they will be looking at historical crash data, signs, pavement markings, traffic speeds and do a field review. He says when the DOT  report is done it will be available to the public.
