Eagle River Graduate Launches Musical Career

Submitted photo

The months after high school graduation are a big adjustment for any 18-year old. WXPR’s Emily Bright has the story of one local girl who used the time to launch a singer/songwriter career.

Seven months after graduating from Northland Pines High School Madeline Consoer was back in her old auditorium, playing piano and singing a two-hour concert Friday that included her original songs. It’s been a busy few months, says Madeline.

“Well, I took my first semester off of college and I worked really really hard on music. And we called a recording studio and interviewed and went down there, and recorded.”

That song is called “Her,” is the title track of Madeline’s new EP, recorded this fall at Blackbird Studios in Nashville. EPs, short for extended play, are a common way for new artists to introduce themselves to the world: Madeline’s contains four original songs. Next month, Madeline starts college in the Twin Cities, where she plans to gig as much as possible. Her comes out Friday.
