You can get rid of some of your electronic gear and help the local homeless shelter at the same time.
Northwoods Alliance For Temporary Housing and the Good News Project will be holding an electronic recycling event Friday and Saturday June 22 and 23 at Charter NEX Films on Red Arrow Drive in Rhinelander.
Good News Project spokesperson Bettina Peters says two positive things happen with the collection....
"....we are going to be collecting electronics from households and businesses. We're partnering with Frederick Place and NATH of Rhinelander to do this as a fundraiser and also as a community service project in order to get those electronics responsibly recycled and out of people's homes. There is a cost for the event...."
They're accepting computers and associated add-ons, printers and scanners, fax machines and copiers, any type of television, microwaves, phones and cell phones and most electronic devices. They are NOT accepting liquids, paints and chemicals, large appliances, batteries or fluorescent bulbs, newspaper, cardboard or cans.
There is a 40 cents per pound charge for the electronics.
A portion of the proceeds benefit both Frederick Place Homeless Shelter and the Good News Project of Wausau. The June 22 collection begins at noon and runs until 6 p.m. The June 23 collection runs from 9 a.m. until noon. You can contact either organization for more information.
