The American Cancer Society's "Relay For Life" events are taking place in various Northwoods communities over the summer.

An event held in Crandon last Friday raised nearly $15,000.

Event Chair, Stacey Jameson along with American Cancer Society’s Kristen Herbes organized the event.

Eight teams participated and the three top teams were Laughing Loons,  My Wish,  and Team Julie.

Sara Austin of Crandon... talks about what  Relay for Life means..

“I don’t think there is anyone on our team that hasn’t been touched by cancer. Whether it’s family or friends or loved ones in our community, we’ve all experienced the suffering and loss of cancer and we want to make a difference.”

This years Forest County’s Relay for Life was sponsored by the Forest County Potawatomi Community, Ministry Health Care and Crandon Lion’s Club and many community members who donated  time and materials.
