Gathering Storm Cancels DNR ATV/UTV Meeting

Wisconsin DNR

The winter storm coming to the Midwest has led to the cancelation of a DNR meeting Thursday evening about an ATV trail in the Woodboro Lakes wildlife area.

The open house was called to get public input on a proposal by the Nokomis ATV club about using part of the 3,000 acre property for a trail. DNR Woodboro Lakes area manager Jeremy Holtz says the weather put a halt to plans...

?

"....the meeting scheduled for Thursday, the 20th is when this storm is supposed to hit. Even though we can't be sure exactly how this storm is going to turn out, we don't want anyone putting themselves in harm's way to attend a meeting...we've decided to postpone in and put it on a night when we have better weather...."

The club would like to establish an ATV/UTV trailed on the southeast portion of Woodboro lakes, about ten miles west of Rhinelander. The request includes two route options, both of which would run on existing snowmobile trails.

Holtz says the makeup date will be within a few weeks. The comment period for the request has been extended through March 31. The Nokomis ATV Club proposal is on the DNR website using the key words "master planning". Holtz's office is at the Rhinelander DNR Service Center.
