Half-Million Dollars Generated For Vilas County

en.wikipedia.org

Annual timber sales on the Vilas County forest were opened and awarded Wednesday by the county forestry committee that will generate close to one-half million dollars in revenue.

Bids approved totaled $472,000 on 11 different parcels with harvesting on 637 acres.

Two parcels received no bids and one bid was rejected for not meeting the minimum set by county forest administrator John Gagnon. “These parcels will be advertised for sale again,” Gagnon said. “I was surprised with the parcel not meeting minimum since it's on Hwy G and can be actively worked during spring breakup.” Most timber sales contracts allow for two years for completion of the harvest.
