Hodag Farmers Market To Open May 28

en.wikipedia.org

Memorial Day is approaching and that is the traditional time for Farmers Markets to begin their seasons across Wisconsin.

The Hodag Farmers Market begins May 28 at Pioneer Park in Rhinelander, beginning at 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Spokesperson Steve Richardson says the market continues to grow...

"....well over 20 years ago we started the Farmers Market with just a handful of growers. It's grown exponentially to a point now that up to two dozen growers(attend) in the middle of the season. There's much to choose from. To get the best selection, show up early..."

Richardson says they're expecting to have lettuces and other greens, spinaches, radishes, possibly a few cucumbers. There will be meat and eggs there, all locally grown and he says you can meet the farmers that grow it.

Richardson says non-profit organizations are invited to have bake sales at the market, and they are also inviting musicians. He says a few musicians have made reservations to busk at the market. Musicians need to call Jazz Schmidt at 715-617-7903 and make a reservation.
