Housing Leader Says More Options Are Needed Here

en.wikipedia.org

The Executive Director of Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority says they're working toward getting more middle-range housing for the Northwoods.

Wyman Winston met with business groups in Rhinelander Thursday.

He says people in the middle class have few housing options..

".....there aren't a lot of housing options. You're either on the lake or you have nothing. Your either at the high end or there's not much(housing) there. So we want to see if there are things we can do over the next year to help the community...."

Winston says they work with cities to provide programs to lure developers to build the type of housing that is needed in a community. He says  recently met with business and government leaders in Wausau.

The Wisconsin legislature created WHEDA in 1972 to meet an increasing need for affordable housing financing. The legislature broadened WHEDA’s purpose in 1983 to include financing for the expansion of business and agricultural activity.
