A busy intersection on Rhinelander's west side is the focus of a meeting next week.
The Department of Transportation is hosting a public informational meeting at Rhinelander City Hall Tuesday concerning the U.S. 8 and state 47 intersection.
Officials say the intersection has had it's share of crashes. Rhinelander Director of Public Works Tim Kingman says the meeting is a good opportunity for the public to see the options the state has in mind for the intersection...
"...for years and years there's been some thought put into considering roundabouts at that location. We don't know that that's going to be our final direction, but as the information comes forth it comes in meetings like the one being held...."
Kingman says the state is considering other options...
"...with the work they're doing their considering what is in place and making it better, and looking at the roundabout as well. Nothing has been decided about roundabouts. It's just something that's being considered....."
The state reports eight people injured and one fatality among the 28 crashes at the intersection between 2012 and 2016..
The meeting will be AT 5:30 P.M. Tuesday, December 12 at Rhinelander City Hall.
