It's Tornado And Severe Weather Awarness Week

en.wikipedia.org

It's Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness Week in Wisconsin. Each April, state emergency management sets aside the week to get people thinking about how to prepare for a weather emergency.

Locally, Dawn Robinson from Oneida County Emergency Management says you should be ready to go if severe weather threatens...

"....so this is a good time for everyone to look at their plans and practice what it is that they learned..."

Robinson says think through where you would go if severe weather is reported. That could include any inner most area without windows. She says like the winter, have an emergency kit that has water, some food and medications inside it...

"...everyone should have a NOAA weather radio so you do hear what is going on..."

More information is available on the state website readywisconsin. wi.gov or the Oneida County websiteunder emergency management.

You'll hear sirens going off this Thursday afternoon as officials hold a tornado and severe weather test.
