Johnson Says In Congress He Wants Bipartisanship

www.freestockphotos.biz

While many think the two principal political parties are about as far apart as they have been in decades, Wisconsin Republican Ron Johnson says he has sought common ground in a committee he chairs.

The U.S. Senator recently stopped in Minocqua. He says as chair of the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs committee, he says he first sought points where both sides could agree on issues. He says they've moved 49 bills for consideration. He says it's a philosophy he learned in private business....

"...it was my approach to business. I would sit down at the negotiating table, I wouldn't start arguing. I would lay out all the areas of agreement first. It allowed you to lay out areas of trust and it was easier to find common ground. I hope to continue down that path..."

Democrats aren't so sure. The criticized him last week for trying to mirror Donald Trump's controversial approach and stepping around questions.

Johnson was listed as one of the most vulnerable candidates going into the 2016 election. He is being opposed by former Senator Russ Feingold.
