Kids Need Required Vaccinations To Go To School

en.wikipedia.org

It's back to school soon  and health officials are reminding parents to check to make sure students have the required immunizations.

Char Ahrens from Oneida County Health Department says the immunizations prevent the child and others from getting sick....

"....children can easily transmit illnesses to one another due to poor hand washing, uncovered coughs. They're in with their classrooms and their teachers for long periods of time...."

Rhinelander School District Nurse Kerri Schmidt says information is available...

"...the Wisconsin state statute requires they have certain vaccines. We have a copy of that information on our Rhinelander School District website and the Kindergarten Roundup newsletter for all kids entering kindergarten had that information...."

Schmidt says if you need more information, contact the Health Department or call her office at the school district. Other districts should call their county departments or school districts or contact your local health provider.
