Kwik Trip One Step Closer To Reality In Eagle River

en.wikipedia.org

After a public hearing the Eagle River Plan Commission recommended the city council approve zoning changes and conditional use permits for a proposed $2.4 million Kwik Trip along with suggestions to lessen impacts to a nearby residential area.

According to Kwik Trip spokesperson the 9,000 square foot convenience store, gas station, and car wash would be open 24 hours and employ from 15 t0 20 part and full time persons. Kwik Trip would pay to extend West Wall Street across Bridge Street to South Willow along with the required intersection signal complex.

Residents along West Division objected to an entrance/exit to their street suggesting it be changed to go west onto South Willow. They also supported an earth berm and plantings to shield the development from the residential area. Most persons supported the proposal citing increased access safety for the Children's Museum and Riverview Park. One business person, D & S Mobile owner Dean Isleb wondered how many other businesses would be eliminated by Kwik Trip saying “you guys are crazy.”

It's expected construction will take four months after all permits and approvals are obtained. The city council will act next week on the commission recommendations.
