Lincoln County Board Again Affirms Redistricting Vote

en.wikipedia.org

The Lincoln County Board of Supervisors Tuesday passed a resolution favoring a non-partisan method of determining legislative districts.

That news follows an announcement that the U.S. Supreme Court will hear a Wisconsin case this fall that the state's federal and state boundaries were unfairly drawn by majority Republicans. The Lincoln county board voted 17 to 4 to refer the anti gerrymandering resolution they passed in March to the Wisconsin Counties Association for consideration.

Wisconsin Counties Association is the counties main legislative lobby. The Association will consider the resolution at it's fall meeting and requests for consideration had to be submitted by June 26.

Boundaries in Wisconsin have traditionally been drawn every ten years by the political party in power. Other states like Iowa have turned their process over to non-partisan panels, like retired judges, to determine districts.
