Lincoln Street In Rhinelander To Get Facelift

Emily Bright

A Rhinelander  street with a large amount of traffic will be seeing an improvement beginning later this month and officials are working to minimize the impact during construction.

Lincoln Street is among the busiest streets in the Northwoods. That street is the main passage to the large big box stores on the city's east side.

Public Works Director Tim Kingman says crews have been repairing curb and gutters  to prepare for work beginning later this month...

".....we have a contractor that is coming in and will replace the pavement surface on Lincoln Street between Evergreen and Eisenhower Parkway..."

Kingman says all that driving has taken a toll...

"....that roadway is 15 years old at least. What happens over time is frost and wear causes irregular shapes and it bumps you down the road. It was clearly needed to replace...."

The city is meeting to inform businesses and others what to expect during construction. Kingman says there will be periodic closures and minor traffic diversions during the work. He anticipates the street will be finished in early September. Kingman says to contact the city of Rhinelander if there are questions.
