Minocqua Board Gets Pavilion Rental Request

commons.wikimedia.org

Park Falls resident Sue Perron would like to rent the lower half of the Torpy Park pavilion in downtown Minocqua for a small lakeside café, but getting town board approval may not be easy.

Two of the five-member board said Tuesday that allowing a private party to rent town owned property to compete against established eateries that pay property taxes and have substantial investments in buildings and employees would not be fair to them.

Nonetheless, the board will allow Perron to inspect the kitchen to see if electrical and plumbing services are adequate.

Town Chairman Mark Hartzheim was adamant, however, that the town would not pay for any upgrades for that purpose.

The matter returns to the board at their next meeting for a decision.
