Minocqua Cold Case Murder Investigation Leads To Arrest

Oneida County Sheriff's Department

The unsolved murder of a Minocqua woman from 1982 has led to the arrest Monday of her husband.

The Oneida County Sheriff's Department reports the arrest of 69 year old Robin Mendez for the death of his wife Barbara. Barbara Mendez was murdered on April 28, 1982 at the Park City Credit Union building that had previously been located on Highway 51 at County Highway J in Minocqua. Authorities report new information led to the arrest.

The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office and Minocqua Police  investigative team spent the past several months going over all of that information and putting it together into one comprehensive report for District Attorney Michael Schiek. They re-interviewed every witness they could locate and that re-examination led to the arrest. Sheriff Grady Hartman said they met with Mendez' daughters about the case. District Attorney Michael Schiek said the evidence supports the arrest of Robin Mendez. Mendez is scheduled to be in court today(2/6/18).
