May is Older Americans Month and a national non-profit organization has created a program to allow older adults to reinvent themselves. Called the Senior Community Service Employment Program, Experience Works offers assistance to low-income older adults who need help transitioning back into the workforce. Director Scott Savola says it’s an opportunity for older adults to age with dignity and purpose while out in the workforce.
“…this year’s theme is blaze a trail, and it emphasizes the way older adults are reinventing themselves through new work, new passions, engaging their communities and blazing a trail of positive impact in the lives of people of all ages.”
Savola says participants will build confidence, update job skills through community service opportunities and are given customized training.
He says they service 44 counties in Wisconsin. Savola says adults who are looking to take part in the program must be unemployed with no job prospects, low-income and are 55 years or older.
