Northwoods Farmers, Foresters Invited To Input Meeting

en.wikipedia.org

Farmers, foresters and the general public are invited to a meeting next month to set priorities and to implement local conservation efforts.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service has announced the schedule for Local Working Group meetings for this year.

District Conservationist Michael Stinebrink in Rhinelander says the local meeting is set for July 26 at the U.S. Forest Service office in Rhinelander. He says the main topic will be the Environmental Quality Incentives Program...

"...it's a voluntary conservation program for forest land owners and farmers to do conservation projects on their land. The objective is to get local input as the the administration of that program...."

He says the meeting will identify conservation issues on farmsteads, pastureland, croplands and forest lands. He hopes people who use the program...like farmers and foresters...attend, along with other conservation stakeholders.

This working group is for the counties of Florence, Forest, Langlade, Lincoln, Oneida and Vilas counties.

More information is available at the NRCS office in Rhinelander at 715-362-5941.
